Performance & Pressure
For athletes and professionals of color whose anxiety shows up when it matters most.
Who this is for
You're good at what you do, and you're tired of what it costs you. Before the game, the presentation, or the review, your body gets there first: tight chest, racing thoughts, replaying every mistake. Maybe you're the only one who looks like you in the locker room or the boardroom, and you've learned you don't get the same margin for error. People tell you to "just relax." It hasn't worked, because the pressure isn't only in your head.
What this can look like
— Freezing, choking, or overthinking in competition, auditions, or exams
— Dread before presentations, interviews, or performance reviews
— Replaying mistakes for days
— Perfectionism that drives results but drains you
— Carrying stereotype pressure, representation, or family expectations into every performance
— Losing the joy in something you used to love
How we work
We look at where the pressure comes from, including old experiences and what it means to carry expectations others don't. Then we build what you need to perform from somewhere steadier.
— EMDR to process the moments that still hijack you, including past failures, injuries, or harmful coaching or workplace experiences
— Mindfulness and acceptance-based tools to stay present and focused under pressure
— Practical CBT strategies for the thoughts and habits that feed anxiety
— Nervous system work so your body stops treating every high-stakes moment like a threat

Note
This is therapy, not coaching. I'm a licensed mental health counselor, so we can address the anxiety, trauma, and patterns underneath performance, not only the performance itself.
